Boukatios

the month of August - honoring Demeter

According to the Delphic Calendar as presented on Pytho.Notion - Boukatios is the month that most closely aligns with the month of August. In celebration of the pre-autumn harvest, we honor Lady Demeter - as goddess of agriculture.

Boukatios was originally named in honor of Boukatia, a festival honoring Zeus Patroos and Apollo:

"The Boukatia is a Delphic festival in the month of Boukatios, dedicated to Zeus Patroos (ancestral Zeus) and Apollon. Not much is known about this festival, but it traditionally involved an offering of first fruits to Apollon, and a symposium, as well as a likely offering of oxen."
