Theoxenios

the month of April - honoring Aphroditê

According to the Delphic Calendar as presented on Pytho.Notion - Theoxenios (historically) is the month that most closely aligns with the month of March. However, due to The Temple's realignment of the month of Herakleios, Theoxenios was accordingly adjusted to be in April instead of March. During the month of Theoxenios, spring flowers come into full bloom and for many animals mating season begins. In this, we honor Lady Aphroditê during this time.

Theoxenios was originally named in honor of Theoxenia, a feast honoring the entire Greek pantheon:

"The Theoxenia festival was a feast to welcome the gods into the home. It was often associated with the cult of the dead and may have served a purification purpose. The festival involved inviting various gods, such as Apollon, Leto and the Dioskouroi (Dioscuri), and offering them food at a banquet. The Delphians, in particular, made offerings for the benefit of all of Hellas (Greece) during their Theoxenia."
