Heraia

The Festival of Hera

Heraia, is a festival held in celebration of Lady Lêta, Goddess queen of Childbirth, Marriage, & the Stars of Heaven. Held every year on Heraios 10, it is also a celebration of women, femininity, motherhood, and social justice.

While Heraia does focus on womanhood, it is not a festival exclusively for women or female-aligned individuals. Instead it is an opportunity for all people to honor and celebrate all women, including transgender and non-binary women.

history vs modern day

According to Pythio.Notion:

“The Heraia, is a celebration held in honour of Hera. Like all the occassions mentioned by the Labydae, the festival includes a banquet. In some regions, the Heraia featured women's footraces, suggesting it may have been a festival for the initiation of young women [...] As well ass footraces for girls, the women weave a robe for this festival, and dress Hera.”

In some situations, Temple Hyacinthus engages in syncretization; the merging or combining of two separate deities into a singular entity. A prominent example of this within The Temple's traditions can be found in Lady Lêta, a syncretization of the Olympian Goddess Hera and the Titan Goddess Leto.

In this, while Heraia was historically held to honor Queen Hera - The Temple honors Lady Lêta during this festival.
